During the early 1800's, teh names for many of the major roads in Milford Haven were officially changed. This appears to be linked to a desire to cknowledge the towns Founding Fathers and Admiral Nelson's visit the the "New Inn" (later renamed Lord Nelson Hotel.) It takes time for peaple to adapt to change and even today, you will still hear references to the original street names. Historians also need to be aware that certain roads may follow a different route to the original road name and others have moved or been renamed on more than one occassion. This sketch indicates some of the old road names.
