Chemical Elements Ionic Chemistry Organic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry is the study of compounds containing carbon and hydrogen. Most (but not all) organic compunds will also contain other elements. For carbon to achieve ionic bonding it would have to transfer 4 electrons to neighbouring atoms. Thus Organic compounds tend to have co-valent (electron sharing) bonds. The name Organic, hints at the fact that all known lifeforns rely on organic materials. The lists below hint at the great diviersity within organic chemisty.
