Back in the days of affordable parking, large numbers of vistors came to Weston-super-Mare and the sea front was an ideal venue for various major events. This photo was taken after the first Motorcycle Beach Race.
 
In order to accommodate the event and cater for the expected influx of additional visitors, the council had created overflow car parks using the beach lawns and additional sections of beach.
